Deep Fried Mars Bars – RECIPE

Posted on 15 May 2011 by admin

Deep Fried Mars Bars are one of the most unhealthy desserts you could imagine! Invented in Scotland, a Mars chocolate bar is frozen and dipped in cake batter, then deep fried until crisp and golden on the outside and gooey in the middle. Not recommend for regular consumption, but good for a (very occasional) treat – Give it a go! MY SECOND CHANNEL: PLEASE SUBSCRIBE! FOLLOW ME! The deep fried mars bar was invented in Scotland, sadly!
I live and work in Edinburgh and the chippy up the road from me claims to have invented it – but when I was at school in Orkney (some 24 years ago) our local chippy in Kirkwall did them (and any other sweet you fancied deep fried!)

I love Mars bars and this recipe seems so yummy and I want to try it!
I wonder if I can make fried ice-cream using the same recipe and technique. I thought that it might be possible dipping a ball of ice-cream in the batter and then letting in rest in the freezer so that it can be fried at the right moment. What do you think?
    I love your channel!!

    Fried Heart Attack.

No, it wasn’t invented in Scotland. Its been a staple of Southern U.S. carnival cooking for many decades. Wikipedia gives credit to Scotland but I had these as a kid in the 1970’s at carnivals.
