Raymond Chandler’s Gin Gimlet

Posted on 29 November 2010 by admin

Manhattan bartender Del Pedro (Grange Hall, Pegu Club) shows the step-by-step making of a Raymond Chandler Gin Gimlet for Edible Manhattan, using a recipe inspired by a passage in Chandler’s 1953 book “The Long Goodbye,” a testament to classic bar culture. Contrary to popular ideas about authenticity, it’s made with a mix of both Rose’s Lime and real lime juice, which helps give it a vibrant green color noted by Chandler in the book. Pedro also uses Tanqueray gin, as its flavor pairs nicely with limes.

I have never seen a bartender say so many words while moving his lips so little. AWESOME. Tanqueray gin is the best gin on the face of the planet. Rock on!!!
