Cooking can be extremely fun, if done together with your family and using imaginative recipes. But another thing that we should ask ourselves when cooking – are the dishes we create also healthy? Uncle Ben’s wants to help children make healthier eating choices and for that reason they launched Ben’s Beginners Cooking Contest. This year you can’t participate anymore, but what you can do is give your vote to your favorite finalist. The three finalists were recently chosen and the videos of them preparing healthy rice-based dishes are available at unclebens.com. You can vote for your favorite video until December 8.
Blake, Arden and Rachel are the finalists who, together with their mothers, are hoping to get your vote to win the grand prize. The grand prize is $15 000 in cash, $30 000 cafeteria makeover for the child’s school and an appearance on the Rachael Ray Show. The two runner ups won’t be with empty hands either, both receiving $5000 in cash and $10 000 cafeteria makeover for their schools.
“By cooking their rice-based recipes these finalists and their families took the time to try new healthy dishes, different ingredients and had fun in the kitchen,” said Tim Snyder, vice president of sales & marketing, Mars Food US, the makers of the UNCLE BEN’S Brand.
